Aurignacian culture

Between 25,000 and 20,000 BCE, the first postglacial industries, and first known culture of Cro-Magnon appeared. This period is known as the Aurignacian culture, and is characterized by the addition of bone tools such as pins, anvils, polishers, etc. At the same time, art appeared, mostly in the form of crude engravings on the rocks, or simple figurines in high relief of mostly nude women.

Full disclosure, I may occasionally borrow a sentence from Will Durant's Story of Civilization. I absolutely love that collection!
