Mousterian culture
The Mousterian culture arrived by 40,000 BCE through the now long-established tradition of artisanship. The tools became lighter, sharper, and shapelier. These remains have been found in close association with the remains of Neanderthals, before they disappeared completely by 25,000 BCE.

Full disclosure, I may occasionally borrow a sentence from Will Durant's Story of Civilization. I absolutely love that collection!
