The Peace of Nicias

In March 421 BCE, the Peace of Nicias was signed. It proposed fifty years of peace shortly after the Spartan hero Brasidas and the Athenian general Cleon died in the Second Battle of Amphipolis. It marked the first half of the Peloponnesian War. This truce lasted only six years.

Full disclosure, I may occasionally borrow a sentence from Will Durant's Story of Civilization. I absolutely love that collection!
