Tunguska Event

On June 20th, 1908, a chunk of comet Encke entered earth’s atmosphere in Siberia causing an explosion that flattened an estimated 80 million trees over an area of 2,150 km2 (830 sq mi) of forest. This was known as the Tunguska event.
