In 190 BCE Hipparchus, one of the greatest of ancient astronomers, was born. He Improved astronomical knowledge, tools, and measurements to the point of calculating the the solar year with an error of 6 minutes, the lunar month with less than a second of error, and the distance to the moon within 5%
